This is a timely warning to inform the Skyline College Community that the San Bruno Police Department and the San Mateo County Community College District Public Safety Department were notified yesterday evening of an office burglary in Building 7, 2nd Floor. This occurrence is similar to another that occurred on Sunday, September 16, 2012 when four faculty offices in Buildings 7 and 8 were burglarized. In both cases, the losses were text books. It is apparent that the person responsible blends in well as a student. If anyone has information about these incidents they are encouraged to contact the San Bruno Police Department at (650) 616-7100 or SMCCCD Public Safety at (650) 738-4199.
In the interest of campus safety, the SMCCCD Public Safety Department would like to remind everyone of the importance of safety precautions.
- Always lock your office when you leave, even if you are only gone briefly. Office burglaries can take mere seconds to accomplish.
- If no one is in your office suite, lock your suite door also. Suite doors are often sturdier and more difficult to force open than an interior office door.
- Be aware of suspicious strangers who may be looking for valuables or desired items they can return or steal later. Report suspicious activity immediately.
- Keep your car keys on your person at all times. If a thief can steal your keys, they can locate and steal your car.
